Needs V.S Wants

I think people who want cant get there needs because they are to cought up in what they want vs what they need. If you need you will get what you need from others or if you try hard to get a job or some how earn money. When you want something you want something for pleasure not need but when you need something you will live a longer and possibly a happier life. I will try to give to people who need with volenering my time and helping get others get what they need and if it makes them happy i will get them what they want.

Jewish Poverty Quetions

  1. When discussing issues of hunger, we often use these biblical sources to cite our tradition’s concern for fighting hunger. However, we no longer live in an agricultural society, and the laws of reaping and tithing no longer apply. How do we make these texts relevant today? What can we do in our modern lives to realize the principles that underlie these laws?                                                           Answer: i think we can not be so greedy and take what ever we want because there are people out there with nothing.
  2. The Torah recognizes certain categories of people who are particularly vulnerable: the Levite, the stranger, the fatherless, the widow, etc. What categories of people today require special assistance and our focused attention? Why?                 Answer: people in wheel chairs, homeless people, veterans, elders and sick people. they need our help so they can stay alive or need a friends to help them if thy are lonely.
  3. Explain the tension between Deuteronomy chapter 15 verses 4 and 11, found in the same chapter in Deuteronomy.                                                              Answer: chapter 4 says that there are no needy ones but in verse 11 it says if there are needy people give to the poor.
  4. If we accept an obligation to care for the needy in our society, does that mean that we have to do it without regret for our own financial loss? Do you personally feel that you are able to give without regret or hesitation?                                      Answer: i would not hesitate to give money unless i knew they were going to use the money for drugs but i would give money to a homeless shelter because i know it helps them out.

Final Sukkah Reflection

In this sukkah project I am most proud of thinking of the Israel door and western wall because I think everyone really enjoyed it just as much as I did. I think being in charge of the western wall was very difficult because a lot of people were telling me it looked bad when it was not even finished so I started to doubt myself to. if I could change anything about the sukkah project it would be two things, one no reflections because I think they take up a lot of time and two I would have used a different material for the western wall so the paint would not were off.

mid-quarter reflection

Effort

I would give myself 3 because I worked very nicely in groups but when i was alone sometimes I got distracted with other thing like if someone is talking to me I would not focus on my thing I am doing and talk with others but I know I can fix that in the next quarter.

Achievement

I would also have a 3 for achievement because I achieved a lot but also again on my assignments by my myself didn’t always get done. and again I know I can fix it by making more effort.

which category on the team work rubric are you best at and worst at.

One category I am good at following are letting people share their ideas and let all of my partners do just as much as me. we all put in ideas. When I was working in a group with Amalia and Benji for our sukka project we all got our ideas, for example one of my ideas was having the door shaped as Israel one of Amalia’s ideas was when you look through the door there will be a map of Israel so it will look like you are walking through Israel and finally one of Benji’s ideas was having MJDS in stained glass. We all contributed ideas.

One category I am bad at is letting other groups share their ideas. for example when someone (not wanting to mention names) over herd what we were doing they came in and said we should combine our ideas. At first I was a little frustrated that they barged in, but then I got over it because together we had a awesome sukka plan.

sukka design

The sukka door is the shape of Israel when you look through it you see the map of Israel with all of the cites on it which lines up with the entrance and it is like you re walking thorough Israel. One of the inside walls is a colorful painting of Jerusalem. On the wall facing MJDS there will be a stained glass words spelling MJDS. On the back outside wall will be a flag nailed on the wall. and the back wall will be the western wall and they can put notes in it .

we combined our ideas with Ellie,  Ariana and  Aiden because we both had a similar idea and we  both liked each others idea so ow on the inside of our idea we have a Jerusalem sky line.

Torah, work, and kindness

I believe kindness is important because if there is no kindness everyone will be mad and cranky at each other. I also believe if you don’t study or learn about your religion you are technically are not that religion because you don’t know anything about it. The reason people need to work and learn is because if we don’t learn or work we will not be able to do much. this quote describes that, “if you give a man a fish they will eat for 3 days, but if you teach a man to fish he will eat for a life time. That quote well describes that.

plans and reflections

I want to learn how to take good notes and learn how to be more creative in writing. want to have all A’s this year. i also want to have a lot of fun projects for all classes. One example of failure we had last year was not listening to each other carefully. last year we had a breakthrough when we did a very good job for the purim play.
